A delegation from Dubai Culture and Arts Authority attended the opening of the UAE National Pavilion exhibition at the 59th edition of the International Art Exhibition ‘Venice Biennale of Art,’ which featured a new installation work by Emirati artist Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim and was titled ‘Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim: Between Sunrise and Sunset.’
Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of Dubai Culture’s Arts and Literature Sector, Najla Busit, Rafia Al Suwaidi, and Shamma Al Zaffin visited the Giardini della Biennale, the major area of the Venice Art Biennale, to see the main hall ‘La Biennale’ and the art show titled ‘Milk of Dreams.’ The team also paid a visit to the displays at a number of pavilions.
HE Noora Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, launched the Abu Dhabi Art: Beyond Emerging Artists 2021 Art Exhibition with MCY at Palazzo Cavalli-Franchetti, which was attended by three Emirati and UAE-based artists: Maitha Abdalla, Hashel Al Lamki, and Christopher Joshua Benton. The group also attended the inaugurations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Republic of Uzbekistan’s national pavilions.
The party also paid a visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice, where they saw the permanent collection as well as a temporary exhibition dedicated to the theme of the Venice Art Biennale of Surrealism, which included works by Leonora Carrington.The Dubai Culture crew also paid a visit to Doge’s Palace, where they saw contemporary art installations by Anselm Kiefer, a German painter and sculptor.
This participation is part of Dubai Culture’s efforts to build cultural bridges with the international community and to explore ways to improve cooperation with international cultural institutions so that emirate talents can participate in prestigious global platforms like the Venice Biennale of Art and establish a global cultural and artistic scene for the country.
