For the first time since the presidential palace opened in 2019, the Al Barza majlis in Qasr Al Watan is receiving visitors. An Emirati majlis is a place of assembly and council that can accommodate up to 300 people and is lavishly furnished with crystal chandeliers and gold accents.
According to a statement from Qasr Al Watan about the facility, “the Emirati majlis is the UAE’s deep-rooted cultural tradition of convening meetings for members of the community to deliberate and share information amongst themselves.” “A barza refers to a majlis session in which critical matters can be brought to the notice of a sheikh,”.
Al Barza’s size is a draw in and of itself since it is the palace’s second-largest room after the Great Hall, to which it is adjacent.
Visitors who participate in guided tours or utilize the multimedia headsets will gain a better understanding of the historic role of majlises, which are “designated areas for cultural, political, and social gatherings that exemplify the ethos of participatory politics in the UAE.”
Qasr Al Watan, or the Palace of the Nation, is a vast collection of cultural artifacts, art, and rare manuscripts located in Abu Dhabi’s presidential palace compound. It allows visitors to learn about the UAE’s history, traditions, and journey through a vast collection of cultural artifacts, art, and rare manuscripts.
The Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej’s Power of Words sculptures were unveiled in 2019. The words of Sheikh Zayed, the Founding Father, inspired a sequence of three sculptures. A golden one may be found outside the Great Hall, while two silver statues can be found in the palace’s garden.
