LOVEISENOUGH has partnered with Swiss furniture innovator USM Modular Furniture to unveil THE ROOM YOU CARRY, an immersive installation opening September 19 at USM’s SoHo showroom. Drawing inspiration from Daye’s experience across hospitality, retail, and residential design, the project transforms the space into a “nomadic city capsule,” offering visitors a participatory environment that blends personal reflection with adaptable architecture.
Reimagining Modular Systems
Central to the installation is the repurposing of USM’s modular system as a structural medium rather than traditional furniture. A canvas-topped tent anchors one corner, while steel, glass, and chrome paravents form protective partitions. Accents of hand-carved, magnetic wood and reclaimed Catskills timber punctuate the space, grounding the installation in Daye’s home landscape.
Collaborating with Matt Hutchinson of PATH, Daye explored unexpected material applications through 3D modelling, creating a dialogue between soft and hard elements. Ambient audio and video recordings by wildlife photographer Jamie Kennard further immerse visitors, highlighting the tension between urban density and natural refuge. As Daye reflects, “How wild can you be inside a hard set of limiting parameters?” — a question at the heart of the installation’s minimalist philosophy.
Conceptual Depth and Collaboration
Jon Thorson, CEO and Brand Experience Director of USM North America, described the project as “one of the most expansive and conceptually rich installations USM USA has undertaken — and the first in many years to collaborate with an interior designer.”
Open through the end of 2025, THE ROOM YOU CARRY invites guests to experience evolving interior styling and reconsider the ways design shapes human behavior across rural and urban landscapes.
