The Drone Photo Awards 2022 were won by an aerial photograph of a secondary fissure occurring a few hundred meters from the main crater of the Fagradalsfjall volcano in Iceland during its eruptive phase.
The competition’s jury members selected the photograph, titled Big Bang, which was taken by French photographer Armand Sarlangue out of hundreds of submissions.
The Siena Awards, the Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, hosted one of the most esteemed competitions for aerial photography in the world, the Drone Photo Awards, which attracted entries from 2,624 participants from 116 nations.
Daniel Koszela, a Polish photographer, won the Sports category with his aerial photograph of skiers competing in the Bieg Piastów competition in Szklarska Poreba, Poland. Saurabh Sirohiya, an Indian photographer, won the Abstract category with his image of workers in a salt pan in Habra, India.
The Above Us Only Sky exhibition, which takes place from October 1 to November 20 at the Museum of Natural History in Siena in conjunction with the Siena Awards Festival, will feature all of the winning photographs.
