Rings of Light,” a solo exhibition by visual artist Tagreed Al-Bagshi, is now on view at the L’Art Pur Foundation in Riyadh as part of the sixth iteration of Misk Art Week.

Speaking about her exhibition, which charts what the artist describes as the swift progress of Saudi women, Al-Bagshi told Arab News that “it is about the empowerment of Saudi women.”

Each theme in “Rings of Light” portrays an inner glow tied to personal experience and progress; some depict the difficulties encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic, while others highlight Saudi women’s past and present accomplishments.

Al-works Bagshi’s contains numerous passages that discuss Saudi women in connection to the country’s reforms. The power and abilities given to women, as well as their accomplishments and honors for the country, are very significant, according to Al-Bagshi. “The empowerment that has taken place is not insignificant.”

Indeed, the Saudi woman has demonstrated to us recently that she is a deserving representative of her country. She continued, “we witnessed her ability to balance being a mother, a wife, and a professional all at once.” The artist asserts that women have always had a lion inside them, waiting for a chance to demonstrate its strength and manifest.

Visitors can hear a voice reciting a text written by Al-Bagshi that explains the purpose of the paintings as they move through the gallery, which was organized by Khariya Refaat.

The artist, who took up drawing as a young boy, has previously collaborated with the Misk Art Institute and thinks that art significantly impacts how visitors convey ideas and feelings.

She claimed that the value of art and the sizable crowds that attend art events play a significant part in fostering cultural awareness.

Since 2001, Al-Bagshi, originally from Al-Ahsa in eastern Saudi Arabia, has held solo art shows inside and outside the country. Her 19th exhibition is titled “Rings of Light.” “Rings of Light” began on December 6 and will continue through January 5.
