A man who quit his job as a mechanical engineer to make stunning human sand sculptures, which sell for thousands of dollars. James Sun began looking for a fresh start to ease the stress while he was going through a difficult divorce in Toronto, Canada.

“I was devastated. I searched online for something to soothe my broken heart, and when I came across sand art, I felt instantly at ease.

He searched online for painters who had produced the kind of art he was interested in and spent $30,000 on a trip to China and Japan to learn with the masters.

The 36-year-old asserted that he “just kept practicing,” and as a result of his intense passion for pop culture and sports, he started drawing images of well-known figures like Wednesday Addams and Messi, as well as actors like Ronaldo and Messi.

James now has five employees in addition to producing sponsored sand art logos and character pictures for companies like BMW, F.C. Barcelona, and Nickelodeon. Five years later, he now bills $1,500 for customized items while charging upwards of $4,500 for brand marketing projects.

“I get to work with all these fantastic brands and earn a lot more money than I did previously. Mr. Sun stated, “I just do it one grain at a time. I truly enjoy it—it actually removes my tension so much—but I take breaks when I’m doing it because I need to focus. “It has helped me heal mentally. My damaged heart was repaired by it, James continues.
