UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris will soon host the inaugural Arab Week, led by Saudi Arabia, as a significant milestone in Arab-UNESCO relations. This event, scheduled for November 4-5, is organized by the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture, and Sciences and has received enthusiastic support from Arab countries. Arab Week aims to celebrate and showcase the region’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, promoting global understanding and cooperation through art, literature, music, and traditional crafts.

Endorsed by Arab culture ministers at the ALECSO General Conference, the initiative highlights Saudi Arabia’s commitment to cultural exchange on a global scale.

Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture and chair of the organizing commission, emphasized the country’s goal of building stronger cultural bridges and uniting Arab nations through shared heritage and values.

The event will feature an array of exhibits and activities, including a marketplace for Arab cultural products, demonstrations of Arabic calligraphy, traditional music performances, and displays of UNESCO-listed heritage sites. Food tastings, traditional crafts, and a showcase of Arab fashion will further engage attendees, offering an immersive experience of Arab culture.

Alongside these vibrant exhibits, the program includes academic symposiums that delve into topics such as artificial intelligence in art, novel writing, and the evolution of Arabic calligraphy. Competitions and presentations by Arab authors and poets aim to celebrate both historical and modern contributions to literature. Children’s literature and poetry will also feature prominently, creating a broad platform for creativity and cultural expression.

Arab Week serves as a dynamic medium for sharing Arab culture’s global impact, fostering intercultural dialogue, and promoting cultural goals that benefit the region and the world. By combining artistic showcases with intellectual discussions, this landmark event enhances the international presence of Arab cultural heritage, encouraging unity and shared vision among Arab nations.
