URBAN RESEARCH has partnered with Lee on an exclusive capsule built around the historic Lee 101 denim line. As retailers continue to lean on proven heritage franchises, this collaboration positions classic American workwear within a contemporary Japanese retail context. At the same time, the release aligns strategically with renewed consumer interest in durable, long-wear apparel.
Product Mix Balances Archive and Modern Fit
The capsule centers on several core silhouettes. Most notably, the Lee 101 Tapered Jean features a high-rise waist and a clean tapered leg, delivering a profile that feels current while remaining grounded in tradition. In contrast, the Cowboy Pants reference 1930s workwear through a cinch-back construction, button fly, and wide-leg cut, reinforcing the collection’s archival credibility. Meanwhile, denim jackets arrive in cropped and collarless forms, allowing the line to transition easily into spring and summer wardrobes.
Pricing and Release Strategy
Prices across the collection range from ¥15,950 to ¥20,900 JPY (approximately $101–$133 USD), placing the capsule firmly in the accessible premium segment. Currently, the line is available for pre-order via the webstore, while full releases are scheduled between late January and early February. Notably, the timing coincides with the Lee 101 line’s upcoming 101st anniversary, which further strengthens the capsule’s narrative and commercial appeal.
