The summer programme for 2022 has been revealed by Abu Dhabi-based Warehouse421, a regional arts and design hub devoted to promoting and fostering creative output. The centre provides programmes for kids and teenagers, culture buses that explore the art scenes in Dubai and Sharjah, and free online and in-person seminars for UAE creative practitioners.
A five-day summer club in collaboration with Studio COE, Make, and Early Starters as well as a movie honoring Emirati Women’s Day are adding to the summer mayhem. Summer Program at Warehouse 421 started on July 1 and will end on September 30, 2022.
The centre also displays the Jill Magi exhibition, “The Weft in the Pencil,” and the NYUAD MFA Exhibition, which features the projects and artwork of the first-year MFA students in NYUAD’s inaugural class of 2023.
Faisal Al Hassan, Head of Warehouse421, commented on the programme, saying: “We have a rich programme this summer for adults and children. We were eager to put together a fun programme for the cultural bus since we wanted to concentrate more on the art scene in the UAE. In order to expose kids and teenagers to the arts in the UAE and encourage them to discover their talents, we have also planned a lot of programmes just for them. Additionally, our programme features engaging presentations by artists who share their practises and unite like-minded people. This year, we have been particularly interested in planning activities that foster community interaction and give local residents the chance to advance their careers and launch their own enterprises.
Your summer days will be filled with art and craft thanks to Warehouse421’s summer club, which will run from July 25 to August 7, 2022.
With our Oceanic Discovery program’s Makerspace, kids and teenagers can explore their creativity by creating puppets, designing lights, and painting tote bags. They can also use the pottery wheel, paint on bisque, and create dolls. Finally, they have the option to embark on a global journey with Early Starters as they explore the cultures of Egypt, India, and the Levant.
The two-day workshop will cover entrepreneurship, graphic design, branding, business ideation, and social media literacy and presence. It will be led by experts from various industries. A meet-and-greet activity was also announced by Warehouse421 and Creative link-Up in addition to the course. Participants will converse with someone until the timer goes off, at which point pairs will switch.
In honor of Emirati Women’s Day, Warehouse421 will present a special screening of six exceptional Emirati female directors who have completed the Narrative and Documentary programmes at the Arab Film Studio.
A panel discussion with two directors and a seasoned Emirati filmmaker follows the film showing. Omnia by Amna Al Nowais, Why Is My Grandfather’s Bed in Our Living Room? by Sarah Al Hashimi, Osha’s Gift by Hind Abdullah, Mum by Mariam Al Awadhi, and Thoub by Raihana Al Hashmi will all be featured in the film screening. On Sundays through Tuesdays, Warehouse421 is accessible to the general public from 10 am until 8 pm.
