Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2025 collection, merging practicality with elegance. The Japanese designer reimagines winter wear with sleek, multi-purpose puffer jackets, versatile cargo pants, and deconstructed outerwear.
A New Take on Puffers
Yamamoto’s FW25 collection moves away from the oversized and chunky puffer aesthetic, opting instead for tailored, quilted designs. The jackets feature intricate patterns resembling paint drips and wisps of smoke, adding a romantic touch. As Yamamoto explained, “I wanted to make them special and elegant — but it wasn’t easy to do.”
Functionality Meets Artistry
This collection boasts practical features like reversible jackets, cargo pants that double as ski wear, and city suits redesigned for the outdoors. Shades of olive green and burgundy dominate, with shiny fabrics evoking imagery of “people walking in the rain, or the snow, in Paris or Tokyo.”
Breaking Fashion Norms
Yamamoto cast everyday creatives—artists, singers, and painters—instead of conventional models, stating, “They are always attractive.” Texts like “Despair is the conclusion of the fool” adorned some pieces, reflecting the poetic and mysterious essence of his designs.
