Zaha Hadid Architects has introduced Cityzen Tower, a 42-story skyscraper set to transform Tbilisi’s skyline. Scheduled for completion in 2028, the tower marks the studio’s first project in Georgia. It will include apartments, offices, shops, and leisure spaces, forming part of a larger development by Cityzen.
Designed to merge with the natural landscape, Cityzen Tower features a striking concrete structure that twists downward into cascading terraces. Inspired by Tbilisi’s rolling hills and river valleys, the design connects urban life with nature. The lower terraces, facing Central Park, will house cafés, restaurants, and green spaces. Higher levels will feature offices and apartments, each with private balconies.
A Focus on Sustainability and Urban Integration
The building’s design prioritizes natural light and ventilation. Its terraces and external louvres help regulate airflow and reduce heat during Tbilisi’s humid summers. This approach enhances comfort while minimizing energy consumption.
Zaha Hadid Architects explained that the tower’s shape gradually shifts from a broad base into a narrower, diamond-shaped form. This transition optimizes space while ensuring every apartment has exceptional views and natural light.
Public squares and gardens will surround the tower, creating inviting communal spaces. Pedestrian pathways will connect the area to nearby amenities, reinforcing the development’s integration with the city.
A Landmark for Tbilisi’s Future
Cityzen Tower will serve as a gateway to Tbilisi’s expanding urban district, reflecting the city’s growing architectural ambitions. The project joins a series of major works by Zaha Hadid Architects in 2025, including towers in Naples and a convention center in Beijing.
As construction moves forward, Cityzen Tower is set to become a defining feature of Tbilisi’s skyline, combining cutting-edge design with a deep connection to its natural surroundings.
