The Zayed National Museum, the UAE’s flagship institution for national heritage, is calling on researchers worldwide to apply for the 2025 Zayed National Museum Research Fund. With a total allocation of AED 1 million, the fund supports projects that advance understanding and preservation of the UAE’s rich cultural history and the broader region. Applications close on 14 July 2025.
Inspired by the values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan—the Founding Father of the UAE—the Research Fund encourages ambitious research aimed at preserving and reviving the nation’s heritage. It provides grants for both established scholars and emerging researchers, fostering innovation, knowledge, and cultural resilience.
Empowering Research Rooted in Sheikh Zayed’s Vision
His Excellency Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, emphasised the Fund’s role in nurturing knowledge and creativity:
“The UAE has always been a crossroads of cultures and ideas. This Research Fund builds on that legacy, empowering researchers to deepen our understanding of the past and enrich our shared cultural identity. The discoveries made will inspire pride in our youth and help us share our heritage with the world.”
A panel comprising representatives from Zayed National Museum, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and external experts will evaluate applications based on research methodology, experience, potential outcomes, and alignment with the museum’s mission.
Dr Peter Magee, Director of Zayed National Museum, added:
“The Research Fund supports original scholarship that uncovers the history, heritage, and traditions of the UAE and region. Rooted in Sheikh Zayed’s legacy of education and heritage preservation, these grants play a crucial role in fostering intellectual engagement and a collective identity.”
