KAWS has been named UNIQLO’s inaugural Artist in Residence, a role designed to expand the brand’s “Art For All” philosophy. In this position, the acclaimed artist will curate art events at stores worldwide, collaborate with museum partners, and contribute to the development of future LifeWear products. His first collection is scheduled for Fall/Winter 2025, extending a creative partnership that began in 2016.
Expanding creative collaborations
KAWS expressed enthusiasm for his new role: “I am thrilled to be taking this next step with my longtime partner UNIQLO to become the brand’s first Artist In Residence. The Artist in Residence position is comprehensive, including the introduction of new collaborators and the proposal of creative concepts. By bridging art and fashion, KAWS will influence both product development and experiential programming for UNIQLO stores worldwide.

This appointment deepens the longstanding relationship between KAWS and UNIQLO, building on nearly a decade of successful collections. The Fall/Winter 2025 release will mark the first official product of this new collaboration, showcasing innovative designs and highlighting the synergy between contemporary art and accessible fashion.
