Hermès unveils “An Oriental Dream”, the latest chapter in its acclaimed Hermessence fragrance collection. Conceived by Christine Nagel, the house’s Director of Olfactory Creation, the series opens a poetic dialogue with the East, blending cultural depth with contemporary artistry. Since its debut in 2004, Hermessence has represented Hermès’ philosophy of fragrance as both artistic expression and sensory craftsmanship — each scent pairing two raw materials to create harmony through contrast.
Four Scents, One Dreamlike Landscape
This new chapter introduces three new creations alongside celebrated favorites that embody the region’s warmth and complexity.
Agar Ébène contrasts the intensity of agarwood with the crisp resinous note of balsam fir, creating a balance between shadow and light. Meanwhile, Vétiver Tonka tempers the earthy depth of vetiver with the comforting sweetness of tonka bean. Other compositions in the line — such as Santal Massoïa, blending milky woods and dried fruit accents, and Ambre Narguilé, swirled with amber, honey, and spice — reflect Hermès’ skill in crafting fragrances that surprise the senses while remaining grounded in refinement.
Together, these creations form an aromatic tapestry that celebrates transformation, emotion, and movement — offering wearers a sensory journey that evolves on the skin and lingers in memory.
Craftsmanship and Presentation
Each Hermessence fragrance is presented in Hermès’ signature lantern-shaped glass bottle, topped with a saddle-stitched leather cap — a nod to the maison’s equestrian heritage. The design captures the timeless craftsmanship at the heart of Hermès’ identity while allowing the fragrance itself to take center stage.
Retailing at $362 USD, the “An Oriental Dream” fragrances are available now through Hermès’ official online store, inviting fragrance enthusiasts to explore a world where imagination meets tradition — and where scent becomes an art form of pure emotion.
