Ambient pioneer and visual artist Brian Eno is set to unveil his newest body of work, Blocks, at Paul Stolper Gallery in London. The exhibition, opening on November 14, will feature a selection of the over 400 one-of-one birch ply panels Eno created during a two-day studio performance last summer. Each piece will be available for purchase at £500 GBP (approximately $651 USD), with sales opening on November 12 at 4:00 PM GMT.
Spanning a wide range of color and form, the Blocks series showcases Eno’s deep engagement with the relationship between sound, light, and spatial composition. The artist has long explored the intersection of visual and sonic experiences, and this latest project continues that inquiry through spontaneous, process-driven creation.
Exploring Chance, Color, and Composition
Eno began the Blocks project by laying hundreds of wood panels across his studio tables, treating each as a canvas for experimentation. He sprayed paint through stencils, scattered found objects and dried pasta, then removed them gradually to reveal layered fields of color. Through this intuitive approach, he aimed to reach the point where each piece “got somewhere” — a phrase that captures his signature balance between structure and randomness.
While Eno is best known for shaping ambient music, his visual practice reflects the same fascination with generative processes. Over the decades, he has explored how unpredictability can yield beauty, both in soundscapes and in imagery. The Blocks paintings, therefore, serve as a continuation of his lifelong investigation into how systems of chance can produce harmony, rhythm, and emotion.
Each work, measuring roughly seven by five inches, offers a distinct visual experience — from quiet, meditative tones to bursts of saturated color. In addition to the single pieces, the show will include a smaller group of four-panel compositions arranged around an empty central square, symbolizing the dialogue between presence and absence that defines both painting and music.
Exhibition Details and Collector Access
The Blocks exhibition will run from November 14, 2025, to January 17, 2026, at Paul Stolper Gallery, 31 Museum Street, London WC1A 1LH. Collectors can acquire works either in person or online, offering accessibility to Eno’s fans worldwide.
Through Blocks, Eno invites viewers to experience his creative philosophy in tangible form — where improvisation meets precision, and where the boundaries between art and music, process and product, are deliberately blurred.
