Karimoku has released the three ASICS Editions, a collaborative furniture series that merges sustainable innovation with Japanese craftsmanship. Notably, the release centres on the Castor Lobby Sofa and two versions of the Polar Lounge Chair in Small and Large formats. Moreover, each model uses cushions made from repurposed ASICS footwear. As a result, dead stock and sample shoes are dismantled, crushed, and sorted for material recovery.

Material Engineering and Craft

At the same time, EVA foam from the footwear is re-engineered into a hybrid cushioning structure. Consequently, the process extends the lifecycle of unused materials and reinforces circular economy practices. In addition, the Castor Lobby Sofa and Polar Lounge Chairs highlight Karimoku’s woodworking and ergonomic expertise. Meanwhile, ASICS contributes advanced material engineering to the construction process. Notably, the cushions combine cotton filling, EVA foam chips, and a compressed foam sheet. As a result, the structure delivers a balance of softness, resilience, and durability.

Market Availability and Pricing

Furthermore, upholstery options include textiles developed with Danish manufacturer Kvadrat to evoke sporting references within a contemporary interior context. In addition, each piece features an embroidered tag carrying both ASICS and Karimoku New Standard logos. Currently, the collection is available through Karimoku’s online shop and selected international retailers. Ultimately, prices range from ¥216,700 to ¥257,400 JPY, or approximately $1,414 to $1,680 USD.
