California-based lighting company Gantri has introduced Gantri Wireless, a new collection of portable lighting developed in collaboration with San Francisco design studio Ammunition. Launched during NYCxDesign at TIWA Gallery, the collection marks a significant milestone for the manufacturer as it celebrates its tenth anniversary and expands its commitment to digitally fabricated, sustainably produced lighting.
Known for its use of plant-based materials and on-demand manufacturing technologies, Gantri has spent the past decade advancing a model of contemporary lighting production rooted in design innovation and local manufacturing. With the introduction of Gantri Wireless, the company now enters the growing portable lighting category while maintaining the performance standards typically associated with fixed architectural fixtures.
Wireless Technology Meets Contemporary Design
At the core of the collection is Gantri Helia™ technology, a new modular lighting platform that integrates battery power, connectivity, and illumination into a compact system. The Helia™ H1 Engine combines a rechargeable battery, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality, and a high-performance LED array into a single unit that powers all 10 lighting designs in the collection.
The lamps deliver up to 1,000 lumens and offer up to 10 hours of battery life. Furthermore, they feature dual colour temperature settings of 2700K and 3200K, a colour rendering index exceeding 90 for natural-quality illumination, and IP44-rated splash resistance suitable for a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.

Each fixture rests on a weighted stainless-steel charging base finished in a soft grey tone inspired by the atmospheric conditions of Northern California. Meanwhile, the lighting components are enclosed in Gantri’s signature PlantPolymers, a proprietary material derived from sugarcane and manufactured through advanced digital fabrication.
California Design Heritage Shapes the Collection
Ammunition, the award-winning design studio led by Robert Brunner and Matt Rolandson, developed three distinct design families for the launch: Drift, Pier, and Eave.
Drift features softly tapered forms inspired by river-worn stones, creating a sculptural and organic presence. In contrast, Pier draws from California’s coastal infrastructure, employing intersecting geometric planes that reference maritime architecture. Eave takes a more explicitly architectural approach, drawing inspiration from the overhangs, cornices, and structural detailing found in California’s Craftsman and Victorian buildings.

Additionally, the collection is offered in five landscape-inspired colourways: Spruce, Manzanita, Lilac, Magnolia, and Lichen. These hues reinforce the project’s connection to the natural environment while complementing the collection’s contemporary aesthetic.
By combining advanced wireless technology, sustainable materials, and a design language rooted in California’s architectural and environmental heritage, Gantri Wireless positions portable lighting as both a functional object and a design statement. The collection is currently available for pre-order through Gantri’s website, with shipments scheduled to begin in autumn 2026.
