A new destination for collectible design has launched in Berlin with the opening of Galerie OM and its inaugural exhibition, Partie Une. Founded by Moana Thies and Oscar Gröne, with creative direction by Julian Zacharias Eide, the gallery introduces a commission-based model that prioritizes immersive experiences over conventional inventory-driven presentations.
Located on Potsdamer Straße, Galerie OM positions itself as a cultural platform where collectible design intersects with sound, scent, and hospitality. Consequently, the founders envision an environment in which visitors engage with objects through a broader sensory atmosphere rather than within the confines of a traditional gallery setting.
Partie Une Brings Modernist Icons and Contemporary Design Into Dialogue
The inaugural exhibition, Partie Une, reflects this curatorial approach through a selection that spans nearly a century of international design. Rather than separating works chronologically, the exhibition places historical masterpieces alongside contemporary pieces, creating unexpected conversations across generations.
Among the featured figures are Pierre Chareau, Jean Prouvé, Jean Royère, and Ettore Sottsass. Meanwhile, contemporary works by Caroline Keslassy, Martin Margiela, and Fabio Novembre appear in direct dialogue with those earlier works.

As a result, the exhibition emphasizes shared themes of material integrity, structural experimentation, and emotional expression. Furthermore, the presentation highlights how design objects can transcend their functional roles and resist purely decorative interpretations.
The exhibition also introduces emerging practitioners, including Marten H. Anderson, Lorène Cavagna, and Alex Joncas. Their inclusion reinforces Galerie OM’s commitment to supporting new voices within contemporary collectible design.
An Immersive Setting Inspired by Berlin and 1970s Interiors
Rather than embracing the detached aesthetic of the conventional white cube, Galerie OM integrates the exhibition environment into the viewing experience. Accordingly, Partie Une unfolds as a sensory narrative shaped by Berlin’s creative identity and the atmosphere of 1970s interiors.

The presentation combines raw textures and darker tones with a layered approach to ambiance, making the surrounding environment an active component of the exhibition. In doing so, the gallery proposes an alternative model for experiencing collectible design, one that foregrounds atmosphere, social interaction, and cultural context.
With the debut of Partie Une, Galerie OM establishes itself as a new presence within Berlin’s design landscape while offering a platform that bridges historical and contemporary practices through immersive curatorial experiences.
