Abu Dhabi is preparing to welcome some of Europe’s biggest basketball names as the inaugural Euroleague Basketball SuperCup heads to Etihad Arena on Yas Island on September 18 and 19.
The two-day event will bring together four high-profile clubs, combining elite basketball with the emirate’s wider attractions. Representing the UAE will be Dubai Basketball, which will face three of Europe’s established sides: Olympiacos Piraeus, Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul, and Real Madrid.
The tournament is being presented as more than a series of basketball games, with visitors able to build a full weekend around the event by exploring Abu Dhabi’s cultural sites, entertainment venues, and waterfront destinations.
Two Nights of European Basketball
The action gets underway on Friday, September 18.
Olympiacos Piraeus will meet Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul in the first semi-final at 6 pm GST, before Dubai Basketball takes on Real Madrid at 9 pm GST.
The winners will advance to the final on Saturday, while the losing teams will meet earlier that evening in the third-place game. The final is scheduled for 9 pm GST on September 19, when the first SuperCup champion will be decided.
The line-up brings together clubs with considerable European pedigree, including Real Madrid, which has won the continental title a record 11 times.

Because both basketball days are scheduled for the evening, visitors will have plenty of time to explore Yas Island and other parts of Abu Dhabi during the day.
