The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is teaming up with LEGO SHOWS for Natural Brickstory, a limited-time exhibition that turns billions of years of natural history into an interactive experience built around creativity, play, and discovery.
The world-first exhibition takes visitors on a journey spanning 13.8 billion years, combining LEGO building activities with the museum’s scientific collections and stories. Alongside the exhibition, the museum will host an official Guinness World Records attempt, inviting visitors and the wider community to contribute to a large-scale LEGO build inspired by the UAE’s natural history.
Building Through Time
Natural Brickstory is designed to appeal to visitors of different ages and interests, using LEGO bricks to explore subjects that can often feel distant or complex.
Across a series of themed areas, visitors can work on collaborative builds inspired by Earth’s history, wildlife, and the cosmos. The activities encourage participants to build, experiment, and learn together, turning scientific ideas into experiences they can engage with firsthand.
The programme also includes dedicated trails and workshops, giving families and younger visitors additional ways to engage with the museum’s collections and stories.
One of the highlights will be the community LEGO build inspired by Stegotetrabelodon emiratus, a four-tusked elephant that lived in Abu Dhabi during the Late Miocene period. Its scientific name pays tribute to the Emirates, making the prehistoric animal a fitting subject for the record attempt.
From LEGO to the Museum Galleries
The LEGO experience is designed to extend beyond the dedicated exhibition space. Visitors can continue exploring the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi’s galleries, where fossils, specimens, and immersive displays offer a broader view of the natural world.
The museum’s dining and retail spaces also contribute to the visitor experience, giving families the option to spend a full day exploring the venue.
Prof. Peter C. Kjærgaard, Director of the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, said that play can play an important role in encouraging curiosity and creativity, particularly in scientific discovery.
He added that the collaboration with LEGO SHOWS places those qualities at the centre of the visitor experience while helping encourage future generations to take an interest in science and the natural world.

By combining LEGO building with the institution’s scientific narratives, Natural Brickstory aims to give both LEGO fans and first-time visitors a fresh perspective on the museum.
A Hands-On Experience for Families
Rather than simply looking at exhibits, visitors to Natural Brickstory will be encouraged to participate throughout their visit. The combination of building activities, workshops, and museum displays creates a format that brings education and entertainment together without separating them.
The exhibition is open daily from 10 am to 6:30 pm on weekdays, with opening hours extended until 8:30 pm on weekends.
