Dubai Culture and Arts Authority’s (Dubai Culture) head said that the cinema, animation, and gaming industries are at the top of the emirate’s creative sector’s priority list.
Sheikha Latifa bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a member of the Dubai Council, made the statements at The Youth Hub at Expo 2020 Dubai, where she brought together UAE-based filmmakers, animators, and creatives from the gaming sector.
Hala Badri, Dubai Culture’s Director-General; Noaf Tahlak, Dubai Culture’s Executive Director, Chairperson Office; and Dr Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash Al Marri, Dubai Culture’s CEO, Arts & Literature, attended the meeting. The creatives explored the current creative ecosystem in Dubai and what is required for the industry to thrive.
“We want to engage with our creatives to establish the best roadmap for their development,” Sheikha Latifa said. “The cinema, animation, and gaming sectors are at the top of our agenda.”
This was the first of many sessions aimed at determining the top objectives for persons working in these fields. More sessions will be held in the future that will go deeper into the details, providing important inputs for crafting our multi-year strategic plan and establishing defined milestones.”
During the conversation, it was pointed out that Dubai offers cutting-edge production capabilities in film, animation, and related industries. They also emphasized the power of the Dubai brand, which has made the city one of the most popular places to live and work in the globe. Participants in the meeting also shared their thoughts on areas that could use some improvement.
The newest Majlis is one of a series of meetings the chairwoman has held with major individuals and institutions in Dubai’s cultural and creative industries over the last few years. The meetings are intended to keep the sector’s discussion open and feed future initiatives for building a robust and sustainable creative ecosystem.
