Abu Dhabi-based Emirati artist Sumayyah Al Suwaidi is a multiple award-winning talent. In 1996, she discovered her love for digital art, and in 2001, she debuted her first collection, which was influenced by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. She starts each piece with a sketch or a straightforward snapshot and then adds textures, colours, and contrasts to create works that are one-of-a-kind and priceless. Her debut exhibition, which featured several of the UAE’s pioneering artists, took place in Abu Dhabi in 2003. She soon started displaying her artwork in galleries across the UAE, London, the USA, China, France, Germany, Switzerland, Morocco, and Kuwait, among other places.
Her work was included in an auction by Christie’s in 2012 as part of the Modern and Contemporary Arab, Iranian, and Turkish Art Part II, and it was displayed in 2013 as a part of the Three Generations exhibition at Sotheby’s Galleries in London.
