Born on June 19, 1973, in Martinez, California, Dan Fraga is a versatile artist whose creative talents have left an indelible mark on the worlds of comic books, storyboards, concept art, animation, and film direction. His multifaceted career has encompassed a wide range of artistic endeavors, showcasing his ability to adapt and excel in various mediums.

Fraga’s artistic journey began immediately after high school when he was hired as an illustrator for Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Studios, a founding partner studio of Image Comics. This marked the beginning of his career in the comic book industry, where he played a pivotal role during the formative years of Image Comics. His contributions to titles like “Spider-Man,” “Bloodstrike,” “Black Flag,” “Kid Supreme,” “Superman,” “Black Panther,” “Witchblade,” and “Wolverine” solidified his reputation as a dynamic comic book artist.

In addition to his contributions to comic books, Fraga ventured into the realms of film and animation, making a name for himself as the director of the highly acclaimed “Ricky Gervais Show.” His skills extended to work with Mattel and the “Monster High” franchise, where he served as an animation director, contributing to the development of beloved characters.

As a storyboard artist, Dan Fraga lent his talents to a diverse range of projects, including commercials for Hershey’s and Victoria’s Secret, as well as music videos for renowned artists such as Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé. His storyboard work expanded beyond illustration, encompassing responsibilities such as set design and visual effects supervision.

One of Fraga’s notable creations in the world of comics is the fictional superhero team and comic book series “Black Flag.” This para-military-styled team, originally written and illustrated by Fraga, featured an eclectic roster of characters with unique abilities. The comic gained recognition for its distinctive narrative and visual style.

In April 2020, Dan Fraga revitalized the “Black Flag” intellectual property with the graphic novel “Black Flag: Pineapple Perception.” The project, crowdfunded on Indiegogo, received enthusiastic support from fans, raising over $200,000 by February 2021. Fraga’s modernized take on “Black Flag” reflects his enduring passion for storytelling and artistic innovation.

Dan Fraga’s artistic odyssey continues to evolve and captivate audiences across diverse mediums. His ability to seamlessly transition between the worlds of comics, storyboards, animation, and film direction underscores his versatility and enduring impact on the creative landscape.
