The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has announced the release of limited edition gold and silver coins to honour the historic legacies of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The special issuance commemorates the foundational contributions of the two leaders and seeks to reinforce national pride and unity.
Tribute to the Founders of the Union
The commemorative coins form part of the broader Zayed and Rashid campaign, which aims to highlight the principles of unity, development, and leadership that shaped the UAE’s formation. According to the CBUAE, these coins will serve not only as collector’s items but also as symbols of national identity and intergenerational remembrance.
Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank, remarked:
“This issuance marks the Zayed and Rashid campaign, aiming to solidify the values of unity and development upon which our nation was founded, and to highlight inspiring milestones in their journeys. We reaffirm our commitment to immortalising our national history and fostering it in the hearts of future generations.”
