The new British marque challenges the digital trend with a handcrafted machine dedicated to driver engagement.
Design and Performance Rooted in Tradition
Garagisti & Co. has introduced its first creation, the GP1, a hypercar designed as a deliberate contrast to hybridized and digitally optimized vehicles. Limited to just 25 examples and priced at £2.45 million EUR ($2.84 million USD), the GP1 embraces purity with a naturally aspirated 6.6L V12 engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission. This powertrain, developed by Italtecnica, delivers 800 hp at 9,000 rpm and over 516 lb-ft of torque, channeling it through an Xtrac longitudinal gearbox.
Every detail reflects the philosophy of mechanical engagement. The car’s soundtrack, inspired by motorsport heritage, is as integral as its performance. A carbon monocoque from DEXET Technologies, Brembo braking systems, and Öhlins suspension components reinforce the GP1’s dynamic integrity. Despite contributions from multiple partners, co-founder Mario Escudero notes that collaboration was effortless, thanks to a shared vision that prioritized beauty and tactility without compromise.
A Philosophy Beyond Speed
Design chief Angel Guerra, formerly with Bugatti and Rimac, shaped the GP1 with inspiration from the 1980s through early 2000s while integrating modern technology. “We wanted to craft a timeless design that returns us to the era when fast cars were truly beautiful,” Escudero said. The wedge-inspired sculpture honors past aesthetics without indulging in nostalgia, resulting in a car that feels both familiar and forward-looking.
What truly distinguishes the GP1 is its intent. Escudero frames it not as defiance of the electric age but as a complement to it: “Thinking that we need to choose between one or the other is a false construct. We will always need efficient technology that speaks to our brain, but we will also need things that talk to our hearts.” He likens the coexistence of analogue hypercars and digital innovation to the enduring appeal of mechanical watches in a world of quartz.
Each GP1 will be hand-finished in the UK, tailored to its commissioner’s specifications. Owners will also join the Open Doors programme, offering exclusive access to the design and engineering process. For Garagisti & Co., this hypercar is more than a product—it’s a manifesto affirming the enduring relevance of analogue passion in a digital era.
