Abu Dhabi has unveiled plans to build vertiports in three key locations—Al Bateen, Yas Island, and Khalifa Port. These hubs will support electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, marking a major step toward integrating air mobility into the emirate’s transport network.

The project is led by LODD, an Abu Dhabi-based AI-powered drone technology firm, in partnership with Skyports Infrastructure. After assessing 14 possible sites, the companies completed a detailed feasibility study and submitted it to the Abu Dhabi government.
Advancing Passenger and Cargo Transport
The announcement took place at the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) 2025. Rashid Al Mannai, CEO of LODD, emphasized that vertiports will help incorporate uncrewed aerial mobility into public transport. He noted that the designs are the result of extensive collaboration with over 34 stakeholders and aim to create a scalable air mobility network.
Skyports CEO Duncan Walker highlighted the project’s dual focus on both passenger and cargo transport. A well-developed aerial logistics system will provide businesses and residents with faster, more efficient transport solutions.
A Step Toward Smart Mobility
With this initiative, Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a leader in smart and sustainable mobility. The vertiports will enhance connectivity while reducing congestion on roads. Further updates on the project timeline and implementation phases are expected soon.
