Camelia Mohebi, a multi-disciplinary artist from Dubai, has created an experimental installation in honor of Sheikh Khalifa that reflects her continuing body of work centered on frequencies.

She tells, “I wanted to pay honor to our dear President.” Mohebi, whose first solo exhibition in Dubai, Signals, opened this week at Sotheby’s, said the piece took her around six hours to complete. “I started with a charcoal sketch, which I then scanned and layered using several software’s,” she explains. She describes the patchwork of lines as “almost like he’s an energy field.”

“It’s to show how his soul has been engraved on the collective memory of the country and in our minds and emotions. The black-and-white stones on the border represent the foundations and history of the country he helped construct.”

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, who was elected President of the UAE on Saturday, was also featured in another painting by Mohebi. Mohebi, a Theta Healer, works with a variety of mediums. Her Dubai exhibition, which debuted in London earlier this year, draws together more than 50 works from eight years of her work.

Mohebi further states, “The exhibition is the culmination of my journey, in which I want to inspire and give hope to people through my study of frequencies,” she explains. “I don’t believe I’m unique in any way. In one way or another, we’re all struggling. And it is my sincere hope that by expressing our wounds through art, we might create something beautiful and therapeutic.”
