Designer’s pick, December 2021 – Logo of Picasa

The Picasa logo has a lot more than meets the eye. The colorful portion of the logo represents a camera shutter, while the white space within the logo represents a house. The Picasa emblem is a stylized image of a shutter mechanism, composed of five segments, each of them in a different color. The segments are placed inside the circle frame and form a house silhouette in the center. The Picasa logo is pretty traditional for its segment, but the “home” connotation of its visual identity is very strong and adds a friendly and welcoming feeling to the brand. Casa means “house” in Spanish, while “Pi” can be shorthand for Pixel Index. Put them together, you have a house for your photos, this is because Picasa is the home for all your photos.
