HUAWEI is one of the leaders in telecommunications and mobile phone manufacturing. It is located in the city of Shenzhen (China). The company was formed in 1987 and was created by Ren Zhengfei, a former engineer of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
HUAWEI featured in their logo the meaning of one of the hieroglyphs that formed the word “HUAWEI”, in Chinese and the translation of it means “flower”.
The HUAWEI logo shows the principles that the company has been a customer-focus provider that is always searching for innovation and bringing harmony to HUAWEI, their sincere commitment is to help their customers. The logo reflects the principles that will guide the company ahead.
The earliest logo contained some of the elements that have been used on the following versions too; the multiple petals, the red color, and the upward movement (similarity with the rising sun).
By 2006, the brand consultancy Interbrand, helped to modify the emblem. The petals grew wider and adopted a sharper angle, while the number of the flower petal grew smaller. A 3D effect was introduced, while the similarity with the rising sun grew even more perceptible.
Another update took place before the launch of the P20 and P20 Pro smartphones in the spring of 2018. The shape of the “flower” stayed essentially the same, while the color was slightly modified.
During the first 30 years of its history, the HUAWEI logo featured a bright shade of red, which was replaced by a cooler and slightly darker one in 2018.
The new logo has a more modern look due to its graduated tone and symmetry. It looks more natural and better compatible and it acts as a metaphor for HUAWEI’s open-minded attitude and partnership strategy showing that the company is going to maintain healthy growth together with the HUAWEI logo.
