It has been nearly five years since Jerry Lorenzo announced Fear of God’s collaboration with adidas, a move that immediately shook the fashion and sneaker industries. However, products only became available in 2023, following Fear of God’s first runway show.
Recently, in an interview with Complex, Lorenzo confirmed that the partnership will conclude this year. He stated, “As of today, I am still under contract with adidas… Our partnership ends at the end of December, and we’ve agreed not to renew it.”
Legacy of the Collaboration
The news may be surprising, but it is not entirely shocking. Over the years, the brands released numerous footwear silhouettes, yet none captured sneaker culture like the Nike Air Fear of God 1 in 2018. The collaboration also left a lasting mark on adidas Basketball, which in 2022 shifted its approach with new sneakers and apparel, drawing clear comparisons to Lorenzo’s distinctive design language.
What’s Next for Fear of God
With the partnership ending, many are now speculating where Lorenzo will take Fear of God next. Fans and industry insiders alike are eager to see how he will continue to evolve the brand independently, both in footwear and apparel.
