Dubai is set to bring back its popular Mallathon initiative this summer, transforming some of the city’s largest shopping destinations into climate-controlled walking and running venues. Running from June 15 to September 15, 2026, the programme offers residents and visitors an opportunity to stay active indoors during the region’s hottest months.
Part of the wider Dubai Summer Surprises 2026 programme, the initiative combines fitness, wellness, and public engagement while encouraging healthier lifestyles through accessible urban spaces.
Nine Dubai Malls Become Indoor Fitness Destinations
Each day from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., participants can use designated routes within participating malls. The programme accommodates a range of fitness levels, offering route options of approximately 2.5, 5, and 10 kilometres, and welcomes casual walkers.
The participating locations include:
- Dubai Mall
- Mall of the Emirates
- City Centre Deira
- City Centre Mirdif
- Dubai Hills Mall
- Dubai Marina Mall
- Dubai Festival City Mall
- Dubai Festival Plaza
- The Springs Souk
The Mallathon reflects a growing trend toward using retail environments as multifunctional community spaces. Rather than serving solely as shopping destinations, malls increasingly host wellness, cultural, and social initiatives that engage broader audiences.
Furthermore, the programme offers an alternative to outdoor exercise during peak summer temperatures, allowing participants to maintain fitness routines in a comfortable environment. The initiative also encourages residents to incorporate movement into their daily schedules and to activate public indoor spaces during the morning hours.

Participation is free, making the programme accessible to a wide range of residents and visitors.
Part of Dubai Summer Surprises 2026
The Mallathon forms part of the broader Dubai Summer Surprises calendar, which includes shopping promotions, dining offers, entertainment experiences, and family-focused activities across the city.
Alongside retail campaigns and seasonal events, the initiative reinforces Dubai’s emphasis on wellbeing and community engagement during the summer season. By extending the programme across three months and multiple locations, organisers aim to make indoor fitness more accessible while encouraging healthier lifestyles throughout the city.
The 2026 edition marks the longest Mallathon programme to date, providing three months of air-conditioned walking and running opportunities across Dubai’s major retail destinations.
