The S House, designed by PL.architekci in Poznań, Poland, presents a minimalist residential concept shaped directly by its natural surroundings. The home adopts an S-shaped floor plan that allows the structure to weave between existing mature trees rather than displace them. As a result, the building achieves a pavilion-like presence that balances privacy with openness to the landscape.

The geometry was developed specifically to preserve the forested site. Consequently, the building twists at two key points to accommodate its program without removing any trees. Through this configuration, the house integrates closely with the woodland environment while maintaining a compact residential layout.

Architecture designed around landscape preservation

Transparency plays a central role in the project’s architectural language. Long glazed corridors visually extend the interior into the forest, which creates the impression of walking directly through the landscape. Therefore, the design intentionally dissolves the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces.

At the same time, the roof structure satisfies local requirements for pitched forms while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic. The folded roof allows for higher ceilings and improved acoustics. Additionally, the design conceals lighting and ventilation systems within the structure. This approach preserves the clean visual lines that define the minimalist concept.

Minimalist interior emphasizes calm and curated design

Inside the residence, the design continues its restrained material palette. Monochromatic resin floors establish a neutral base, while oak veneers introduce warmth and natural texture. Consequently, the interior atmosphere emphasizes calm and spatial clarity.

Furniture and artworks also contribute to the home’s gallery-like quality. For example, the living area includes seating by Molteni & C alongside contemporary artworks and sculptural pieces. These curated elements reinforce the dual identity of the house as both a living environment and a space for artistic display.

Ultimately, the S House reflects the client’s desire for a retreat defined by restraint and harmony. Through its careful integration with the forest setting, PL.architekci demonstrates how minimalist architecture can coexist with the natural landscape while preserving its defining character.
