Stone Island’s Marina line has teamed up with New Balance Numeric to deliver a fresh take on the 272 sneaker. Known for its utilitarian flair, the Marina aesthetic brings a coastal, signal-inspired edge to the skate silhouette—marking the British brand’s latest foray into performance-driven footwear.
The collaboration features three distinct colorways—white, blue, and yellow. Each sneaker is crafted using a vulcanized sole with a split upper: gray suede forms the base, while a reactive poly canvas textile covers the upper portion. The lateral midfoot features a light-reactive “N” logo, while the medial side opts for two ventilation eyelets, enhancing breathability. This design choice subtly references nautical gear while maintaining skate functionality. Additionally, rubberized Stone Island Marina branding appears at the tongue, and a co-branded heel tab highlights both partners in blue.
Functionality Packs a Visual Punch
Notably, the sneakers are packaged with a co-branded dry bag and a thematic signal whistle—further cementing the maritime concept. This added utility appeals to both collectors and streetwear enthusiasts looking for style with substance. While the Numeric 272 is typically a budget-friendly model within New Balance’s skate line, this collaboration offers elevated design and exclusive detailing that positions it at a premium tier.
As part of its continued partnership with New Balance, Stone Island has already made waves this year with the “Raso Gommato” 998 sneaker in March. Now, with this latest Marina collection, the duo pushes their creative boundaries into the skate scene—merging rugged design language with everyday wearability.
