The 2022 Armory Show will have a strong emphasis on Latin American art

The fair’s curatorial programming will be directed by professionals in Latinx and Latin American
art for the first time in its four-decade existence. The Armory Show has chosen curators for its
Focus and Platform sections, as well as the Curatorial Leadership Summit, for its 2022 edition.

These are industry leaders with complementary areas of expertise. Carla Acevedo-Yates, Tobias
Ostrander, and Mari Carmen Ramrez, all Latin American art specialists, will present an united
viewpoint to the fair’s curated sections in September 2022 at New York City’s Javits Center.
“As New York’s Art Fair, it’s critical to reflect the diverse populations that make up our city,” the
fair’s executive director, Nicole Berry, adds. “We’re excited to see these presentations come to
life, highlighting not only the vibrant New York art scene, but also a broader representation of
global artistic practises.”

The choice of the show to focus its curatorial sections on pieces by Latin American and Latinx
artists is timely. Latin America has become more visible in the art market and in the world in
general in recent years than in prior years.
