Maria was born and brought up in the oldest city in the world and the current European Capital of Culture, Plovdiv, often known as the ‘City of Artists.’  She spent five years studying art at the National High School of Stage and Film Design, the only institution of its kind in the Balkans.

The artist acquired a variety of fine and applied art techniques, including those in painting, printing, sculpting, ceramics, make-up, and wigs, which benefited the development of her creativity. She took part in numerous exhibitions in Bulgaria, where she also took first place in the national art competition, The Water Source of Life.

Maria traveled to London after earning her degree in Bulgaria, where she studied graphic and digital design at the University of Greenwich and earned her degree in 2019. But she has returned to painting since receiving her degree since it was her first love. During the peak of the COVID pandemic, Maria found Bob Ross’s Wet on Wet technique of painting. Ever since then, she has been painting landscapes nonstop.

Maria enjoys demonstrating the strength and beauty of nature through her work and typically uses stretched canvas and oil paint.  Maria says “I believe that art is compulsory in our lives no matter our age and interests.”  She has taken part in several online exhibitions, including “Locked Up” and “Restart the Planet.”
