An ode to our Founding Father & Arabic calligraphy
In memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, the father of the United Arab Emirates, Qasr Al Watan has opened an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy. The UAE Society for Arabic Calligraphy and Islamic Ornamentation is working together to host the event, which is titled In the love of Zayed. Through 41 works of art made by UAE-based artists with the aim to exploit the wonderful art of Arabic calligraphy, visitors can immerse themselves in a journey through the Founding Fathers’ most profound quotations, poetry, and thoughts.
From Korea to Dubai
A unique K-art exhibit will be housed at Nakheel Mall thanks to a partnership with Springs 15, a company that oversees Asian events and projects in the United Arab Emirates. Son Jin-Hyoung and Kim Jong-Sook, two internationally known artists, will have works on display for a month. Visitors to Nakheel Mall and The View will not be charged to view the interactive gallery. The enchanting collection of dazzling landscapes by Sook, which contrasts the traditional Korean tradition of landscape painting with the metropolitan comforts of the twenty-first-century consumer society, is sure to captivate art lovers. Traditional acrylic paintings serve as the basis for the sceneries, which are subsequently embellished with jewels like crystals, pearls, and opals. Hyoung explores positive energy and the constant eruption of power through the constant leap of life in his series of artworks.
Let’s face it
Face to Face, the most recent group exhibition at Oblong Contemporary Gallery, will feature celebrities as well as portraits, looks, representations, and homages as it explores a unifying theme using many artistic mediums. The only exciting common factor is the portrayal of the “face.” Along with pieces by Flavio Luncchini, Antonio Nocera’s Pinocchio artwork, Paolo Vegas, Serero Pop Art, Youn Kyoung Cho, Igor Mitoraj, Valerie Breuleux, and Jiménez Deredia, Manu Algueró’s recognisable and large-scale canvas explosions will be displayed on the walls.
