A group exhibition of works by Emirati and Mexican artists is being held at the Embassy of Mexico in the UAE in conjunction with the Emirates Fine Arts Society to commemorate the 212th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence and the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mexico and the UAE. The show, titled UAE to Mexico, opened on September 8 and will run until November 8. It features more than forty artists.
“The Embassy organises this significant exhibition in conjunction with the Emirates Fine Arts Society on this very special occasion, according to Luis Alfonso de Alba, Ambassador of Mexico to the United Arab Emirates, “to honour the Emirati and Mexican artists and to encourage even more cross-cultural dialogue between Mexico and the UAE, to strengthen and expand the existing cultural ties between our two countries.”
He noted that one of the main goals of Mexican Cultural Diplomacy is to promote and encourage the exchange of cultural dialogue with the rest of the world. Culture is a natural bridge for peoples to interact and become aware of the common and distinctive features of their societies, he said.
The Embassy currently hosts nine art exhibitions on its property, but this is the first one to have such a large number of participating artists 42 and great artwork that has already captured the interest of so many viewers.
“The phenomena of cultural interaction between peoples and human societies has been deeply ingrained in the notion of constructing the UAE and the idea of the union,” it stated in its message to the current exhibition. A crucial requirement for growth and development is the conversation between civilisations and the exchange of knowledge.
