Victor “Doobie” Pellegrin reimagines the classic Vans Old Skool with hidden pockets, water-resistant suede, and more.
Victor “Doobie” Pellegrin, a French skater and fisherman, has put a fresh spin on the Vans Old Skool. The Doobie Skate Old Skool Net includes a hidden mesh pocket inside the tongue, designed to store small items securely. Additionally, the shoe boasts a water-resistant suede upper, ultra-durable laces, and 10-ounce canvas side panels, making it perfect for both skating and everyday use.
The sneaker also features a custom footbed designed by renowned illustrator Todd Francis. This collaboration merges Vans’ iconic style with Doobie’s functional design approach, resulting in a sneaker that stands out in both form and utility.
“Ye Tale of Doobie” Campaign
To launch the sneaker, Vans released a campaign video titled “Ye Tale of Doobie.” The video, filmed in a gloomy Cornish fishing town, shows Doobie casting his net over the new shoes, humorously earning the title of “World’s Finest Fisherman.” Directed by Jack Lammas and Ed Hubert, the campaign includes cameos from Doobie’s friends, such as Harry Lintell, Helena Long, and others.
Vans cheekily sums up the video, saying: “Ahhhh, the tale of Doobie, once a humble skateboarder from a small French village, now king of the high seas with his own Vans Skate Old Skool.”

The Doobie Skate Old Skool Net will be available online and at select European skate shops starting April 24. Pricing details are still to be confirmed.
