Victor Sitali is an accomplished fine artist whose unique voice shines through his captivating artworks. Born and raised in Zambia, Victor has spent the last decade living and working in the United Arab Emirates. Despite being hearing impaired since the age of three, he discovered his passion for painting as a means of self-expression seven years ago, firmly believing that his hands convey his voice.
In 2012, Victor had the privilege of being mentored by the renowned British artist Trevor Waugh, a transformative experience that influenced his artistic journey. Today, his artistic practice encompasses both abstract and figurative styles, predominantly using oil and acrylic on canvas, but also exploring watercolor, pastel, and charcoal on paper. His versatility and skill have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious ‘Best Artist’ and ‘Highly Recommended’ awards at the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival in 2013. Victor’s talent also garnered an honorable mention among 1,700 artists at the International Emerging Artists Award in 2012/13. Notably, he was specially selected to participate in the esteemed 12th Florence Biennale in 2019.
Victor’s artworks have been exhibited in various prestigious locations, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Holland, and Ireland. His solo exhibitions such as ‘Okongola’ at Galerie Lafayette Gourmet, City Walk, Dubai in 2018, ‘Afro’ at Art Hub, Abu Dhabi in the same year, and ‘Confluence: A Journey Within’ at Bozana Milic Gallery in Zutphen, Holland in 2012, have showcased the depth and breadth of his artistic vision.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Victor Sitali has actively contributed to the artistic community by conducting workshops on oil painting, charcoal, art, and sign language in schools and art spaces across the UAE. His dedication to sharing his knowledge and passion has been an inspiration to aspiring artists. Furthermore, Victor has embraced his skills as a freelance photographer, capturing the essence of fashion and art events.
