A Kostic Khachatourian Art (AKKA) Gallery in Dubai officially opened the Madzimbabwe exhibition on the fringes of Expo 2020 Dubai.
The opening coincided with the Al Quoz Art Festival, which honors UAE-born artists and cultural figures from around the region.
The Al Quoz Festival is a two-day event that includes art exhibitions, live musical performances, food, drinks, contemporary dance, wellness and mindfulness, and a midnight movie marathon, to name a few activities.
The Madzimbahwe exhibition will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays until February 28, 2022, with the theme: Visualizing the ways of seeing, doing, and being.
“As you know, the theme for Expo 2020 Dubai is Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” Zimbabwe Pavilion Commissioner General, Ambassador Mary Mubi, said in her welcome comments.
“We believed that as we arrived at Expo, one of the most important means for linking minds throughout the world is music, and you can see that we are joined by Zimbabweans living in Dubai.” Music brings us together and is an integral element of our culture and identity as a people.” Madzimbabwe is a free public exhibition that highlights Zimbabwe’s creative sector’s cultural revolution while also attempting to unite minds in the spirit of Expo 2020 Dubai.
“Zimbabwe is thrilled to be displaying its artists in Dubai, especially on the sidelines of the world’s greatest showcase Expo 2020 Dubai,” said Ambassador Lovemore Mazemo, Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
The Great Zimbabwe National Monument inspired the Zimbabwe Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, in commemoration of modern-day Zimbabwe’s historical path of resilience, innovation, and uniting minds.
