The inaugural Inclusion Festival in Milton was a huge success on Saturday, with hundreds of people gathering at Bombardier Park West to celebrate.
Governor Phil Scott declared Inclusion Week in 2021, and the festival kicked off the celebration. Through music, dancing, fashion, and visual art, the event honored Milton’s diversity.
Burlington Taiko performed a Taiko drumming performance at 12 p.m. to kick off the festival. Then, at Up North dance studio, students entered the stage to perform Hip Hop and Modern Contemporary Dance.
Jeh Khulu Dance and Drum Theatre held an African Drum and Dance Workshop with performers from Guinea, West Africa, and the United States was held at 2.30 pm. The day was then finished off with further dancing by Up North dancers.
Attendees could get their faces painted, receive a message, or eat food from all around the world, including Mexico and Ethiopia, during the day.
The Milton Artist’s Guild also featured two exquisite pieces by Vermont artist Misoo, whose paintings were part of her series “The Giant Asian Girls.”
